Tile Adhesives & Tile Grouts

Polymer-modified tile adhesives allow large-format tiles to be laid from top to bottom using the thin-bed technique.

VINNAPAS® polymer binders enhance the performance of tile adhesives, making it possible to use the thin-bed technique. They also allow the tile adhesive to be customized to a variety of tiles and substrates. The properties of tile grouts are also optimized by adding VINNAPAS® polymer binders.
To protect buildings from water, modern high-performance dry-mix mortars are formulated with water-repellent additives. SILRES® silane/silicone-based POWDER additives are an excellent alternative as they offer protection for surfaces as well as for the entire matrix.

1-component (1K) cementitious system

VINNAPAS® dispersible polymer powders enhance the performance of 1-component (1K) cementitious tile adhesives and optimize their cost-performance ratio. They are used in the formulation of premixed dry-mix mortars that need only be mixed with water at the jobsite.

Benefits:

  • Excellent adhesion to different substrates in a wide range of conditions
  • Longer open and correction times even at higher ambient temperatures
  • Improved cohesive strength
  • Improved flexibility to prevent cracking resulting from stress between the substrate and the tile

Deformability of Cementitious Tile Adhesives at 23 °C

Class S1 ≥ 2.5 mm; Class S2 ≥ 5.0 mm

VINNAPAS® improves flexibility and thus adds to longevity.

Applications:

  • Natural and artificial stones
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Small and large format tiles
  • Porous and nonporous tiles
  • Mineral and non-mineral substrates

Improved Adhesion and Flexibility

Tile adhesives modified with VINNAPAS® polymer powders show strong adhesion properties, e.g. when applied between fully vitrified tiles and difficult substrates.

1-component (1K) ready-to-use system

1K ready-to-use ceramic tile adhesives do not have to be mixed on site and can be used straight from the bucket. VINNAPAS® polymer dispersions improve the performance of 1K ready-to-use systems such as adhesion, cohesion and flexibility. This makes it possible to bond a wide range of tiles on almost any surface, e.g. other tiles, wood or gypsum board.

Benefits:

  • Easy application
  • Longer open times even at high ambient temperatures
  • Improved flexibility to prevent cracking resulting from stress between the substrate and the tile
  • Excellent adhesion to different substrates
  • Improved cohesive strength

Applications

  • Interior wall tiling in wet rooms and kitchens with natural and artificial stones
  • Small and large format tiles
  • Porous and nonporous tiles
  • Mineral and non-mineral substrates

WACKER’s SILRES® POWDER Additive portfolio includes products based on silanes and silicones that are manufactured with two different technologies. The active ingredient in SILRES® POWDER A is located on the surface of an inorganic carrier, while in SILRES® POWDER D, it is encapsulated.

SILRES® POWDER additives can simply be added to dry formulations to impart hardness, adhesion and strength to the end product. They are compatible with a broad range of dry additives and remain stable in alkaline formulations.

Benefits:

  • Water repellency and protection against defects caused by the ingress of water
  • Integral treatment, long-lasting protection against water
  • Stain resistance
  • Durability – increases product lifecycle
  • No negative impact on hardness, adhesion and strength of the end product
  • Environmentally friendly: manufactured without the use of organic solvents.
