We use precision fermentation to produce 2’-Fucosyllactose. Our production strain has been engineered and optimized for maximum efficiency.
Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMOs) are complex carbohydrates uniquely found in human breast milk. They are the third-largest solid component in breast milk after lactose and lipids. HMOs serve as prebiotics, promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut, which is beneficial not only for infants but also for adults.1,2
We use precision fermentation to produce 2’-Fucosyllactose. Our production strain has been engineered and optimized for maximum efficiency.
As substrates for our fermentation process, we use lactose and glucose that is purely derived from plant starch.
Our microorganisms are able to specifically produce 2’-Fucosyllactose in a unique way. No antibiotics are required
The fermentation broth is purified in several efficient stages to yield 2’-Fucosyllactose.
Our 2’-Fucosyllactose is available as highly pure white powder.
2-FL is produced under FSSC 22000 quality standards and is kosher and halal certified. It is a spray-dried powder suitable for vegetarian food & infant food applications.
In adults, HMOs have been associated with various health benefits, including supporting gut health2,3,4, modulating the immune system1, and potentially reducing the risk of certain diseases and colorectal cancer5. HMOs are not digested by humans themselves but serve as food for beneficial gut bacteria, contributing to a healthy microbiome. This symbolic relationship between HMOs and gut bacteria highlights the importance of these complex carbohydrates in maintaining overall health through life.1,2
