Insect repellent
Commercial insect repellents are formulated to evaporate rapidly from the skin without trace after use . However, as soon as the agent has disappeared, the insect repellent loses its effectiveness. If WACKER CAVASOL® cyclodextrins are added to the insect spray, they form a complex to a minor extent with the active ingredient of the repellent and reduce its rate of evaporation. The insect repellent is thus made more homogeneous and emitted over a longer period of time.
Cyclodextrins consequently help with the challenges of complex formulations such as prolonging the protection time. They also increase the solubility of active substances, allow water-insoluble active ingredients to be used, and allow many forms of application to be used, such as sprays, emulsions and gels.
