Composite materials

Composites are typically made from a thermoset bonding material and from a reinforcement in the form of fillers and fibers. A very broad range of manufacturing technologies can be used to make composite materials. High-performance resins and filler-treatment agents enhance the material properties of the composite. Production processes can be controlled and optimized by means of additives and auxiliaries.

Applications:

  • SMC (sheet molding compound) processes
  • BMC (bulk molding compound) processes
  • Hand lay-up processes
  • Spray-up processes
  • Infusion processes
  • Prepreg processes
  • Pultrusion and
  • RTM (resin-transfer molding) processes
