Young Technology on the Road to Success
In our environmentally conscious world, adhesives and sealants are subject to increasively strict health and safety regulations. With GENIOSIL® STP-E, we offer high-quality hybrid polymers for the formulation of elastic sealants, adhesives and waterproofing liquid membranes that meet today's requirements both ecologically and technically.
What Makes GENIOSIL® STP-E Polymers Stand Out?

The α-Effect
Hybrid polymers result from the reaction of inorganic silanes with organic polymers. In the case of the α-silanes that we use, the electron donor is attached to the silicon atom via a methylene group. With this configuration, the alkoxy groups are activated so that the crosslinking reaction is accelerated considerably (α-effect). Under comparable conditions, α-silane-terminated polymers thus crosslink notably faster.
Our silane-terminated polymers contain silane-terminated end groups that are coupled to an organic polymer backbone, leading to crosslinking via a hydrolysis and subsequent condensation reaction. Our STP-E technology comprises a new selection of silane-terminated polymers, which, thanks to a unique and patented synthesis, exhibit several unparalleled properties. Low viscosity facilitates easy processing and provides ample room for the formulation of adhesives and sealants with high curing rate, excellent adhesion and good paintability.
Curing Time of α- and γ-Silane-Terminated Polymers

GENIOSIL® STP-E polymers have a polyether chain as their organic polymer backbone with di- or trialkoxysilyl end groups. This structure is acquired via urethane coupling, with an aliphatic bridge positioned between the urethane group and the silane component. The aliphatic bridge is either a methylene group, which leads to a polyether with α-silane end groups, or a propylene group, which results in a polyether with γ-silane end groups.
Outstanding Properties
Our silane-terminated polymers yield adhesives and sealants that are based on established systems and offer many advantages:
- No residual tack in the finished product
- Low viscosity and easy handling
- Higher filler loading capacity
- Easy to apply by gun

Our Technology Combines The Properties Of Conventional Hybrids With Additional Benefits For Adhesives And Sealants:

Versatility At Its Best
Our GENIOSIL® STP-E Basic Portfolio
Our initial portfolio comprised four versatile base polymers for a wide range of adhesive requirements. They have proved suitable for all industrial applications in the areas of sealing, bonding and filling. With these initial polymers as a solid foundation, our experts developed a further generation of new α-silane-based hybrid polymers.
GENIOSIL® STP-E α-Grades

Our α-technology results in formulations that cure fully and rapidly and impart excellent adhesive properties. The finished products are tin-free and can be plasticizer-free on request. These systems require no further catalysts, as the catalytic effect of the aminosilane (included as the adhesion promoter) is sufficient to cure the system.
GENIOSIL® STP-E γ-Grades

For our GENIOSIL® STP-E γ-grades, we selected a γ-trialkoxy functional silane as the endcapper. This yields greater crosslinking density and thus reliable elastic recovery.
Our GENIOSIL® STP-E Specialty Portfolio
Based on years of collaboration with our customers, we developed further specialty polymers over the past decade. Each one brings a new property profile to the field of silane-modified polymers and opens up new application areas. Our customers confirm that whether for specialty applications such as wood adhesives (D4), for use in ETAG-certified liquid membranes for roof sealing, or even stronger coatings for high-traffic areas – there is no limit to the development of new finished products with GENIOSIL® STP-Es. Our latest generation of STP-E polymers is even suitable for the production of tin-free, CE-certified hybrid sealants, which close a gap in the market.
Milestones of Our Innovations
One Technology, Numerous Advantages
GENIOSIL® STP-E polymers facilitate the formulation of elastic sealants, adhesives and liquid waterproofing systems that combine environmental compatibility with outstanding technical performance. Our future-oriented product portfolio is the perfect basis for substituting critical ingredients in the formulations of today and tomorrow. Processors moreover benefit from further advantages:
