My World at WACKER
I knew about WACKER when I was a student. I wrote my thesis in the company in 2011. After completing my studies, I worked in several companies, but after the birth of my children, I was on the lookout for a company that represented stability, long-term security and continuity. That’s when I remembered WACKER.
We introduced a new SAP system in my first project for WACKER in 2018. That was my first ever Agile project – and it was WACKER’s first Agile project too. At the time, there was only one Agile team, now the numbers are constantly increasing.
We have continued to improve our methodology, something that I am very proud of as I made a significant contribution to that: as a release train engineer, it is my task to set up the various Agile development teams that work together within a program on a product and coordinate them, as well as improve the joint coordination processes. Because those teams need to work efficiently under my management. To ensure we reach our goals, we use the SAFe Framework, which I adapted to meet WACKER requirements.
All the Agile project teams in the program meet up four times a year for a planning meeting to discuss the next 12 weeks. I prepare those events, steer them and then present the results to management – a major, exciting task.
I am constantly faced with new challenges at WACKER, challenges that do not have a one-size-fits-all solution. This is why I enjoy the freedom to introduce new things and shape them so that they work optimally for me and for WACKER. My managers trust me accordingly, which means I have a great deal of design freedom.
