As a trainee in Purchasing, the biggest benefit for me was that my direct mentor was the department head. He handed a variety of really interesting projects off to me, and they were of real value for the department. Plus, the onboarding part of the trainee program really gave me the feeling that I was part of the company’s network from day one. And my fellow trainees from that time are now really good friends.

That’s a tough question, because every assignment is unique – and that alone made a big impression on me. Still, there were two things that really stand out in my mind as positive:

• The first was my starting week and how open everybody was toward accepting me as a new coworker. Everyone I worked with appreciated me and welcomed me, and they were all incredibly willing to help me out. It was a great way to start out.
• The final presentations that I gave for each of my assignments were the other highlight. That isn’t just because of the time that my mentor and other managers took – it’s also because of the interest they showed in my results. For a newly minted university graduate, the appreciation I felt was amazing.

After the trainee program, I found my home in Logistics and feel really comfortable and appreciated here. As a warehouse operations manager, I’m now responsible for our shipping warehouses and for organizing empty containers at the Burghausen site. It's a huge honor to be able to manage nearly 130 employees at such a young age and to play a role in such a wide range of logistics automation projects.

In addition to the technical expertise I gained in Purchasing and Logistics, what helps me most in my daily work is my network. In a big company like WACKER, there’s an expert for every question, for every challenge and for every situation who can help by sharing their experience and expertise with you. Knowing who these experts are is an art.
