WACKER Donates €150,000 for Earthquake Victims in Turkey and Syria

The earthquake claimed the lives of 60,000 people and left millions homeless. Months after the quake, the humanitarian situation in the region is still catastrophic. There is a lack of drinking water and shelter. Angela Wörl, Executive Board member and Personnel Director at Wacker Chemie AG, expressed her sincere thanks to all those colleagues who donated: “For me, this shows that we are WACKER, that we are reliable – and that we pull together to provide help.”

Barbara Kraller, who chairs the Group Employee Council, was equally pleased with employees’ sympathy: “Our joint donation is a sign of solidarity with our colleagues who have relatives in the region.” Wacker Chemical Corporation in North America joined the appeal for donations as well.

Donations are used for such things as food packages for families, medical care and emergency shelters. To this end, Aktion Deutschland Hilft e.V. collaborates with regional aid organizations.

“By doubling employee donations, WACKER is once again demonstrating that the company takes its social responsibility seriously,” emphasized Mirko Kappelhoff, chair of the fund’s board of directors. WACKER’s relief fund provides emergency aid in the event of natural disasters. The last time the workforce and company made joint donations was for the victims of the Ahr Valley floods in Germany in 2021 and for emergency aid in Ukraine.
