New Site Manager at WACKER’s Burghausen Site From 2021

Dr. Peter von Zumbusch, who is currently head of Engineering at WACKER SILICONES in Burghausen, has been with WACKER for 25 years. Born in Munich, he studied process and energy engineering at the Technical University of Berlin. After graduating, he worked first as a researcher at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg, where he obtained his doctorate. He began his WACKER career at project engineering in Burghausen. After holding various managerial positions in procurement and engineering, Dr. von Zumbusch took charge of WACKER’s Zhangjiagang site (China) in 2005. And, in 2008, he was appointed president of WACKER Greater China, overseeing the company’s Chinese activities. In this function, he pressed on with establishing and expanding WACKER’s presence in China. In 2013, he returned to Burghausen as head of Engineering at WACKER SILICONES.

Dr. Dieter Gilles, who retires as Burghausen’s site manager at year-end, has been with WACKER for 30 years. A physicist, he joined Siltronic AG in 1990, when it was still part of the WACKER Group. After various managerial positions at the wafer producer, he transferred to Portland (USA) in 1996 as head of process development. In 1998, he returned to Burghausen to take charge of wafers for discrete devices. In 2000, he became head of technology development for 300-mm wafers. Two years later, Gilles was appointed head of the Large Wafer International business unit. In 2004, he was named Siltronic’s head of production in Burghausen and, in 2005, he became Siltronic’s site manager there. Since 2012, Gilles has been site manager for the entire Burghausen site.
