Women‘s Day Celebrations in Dubai
WACKER Dubai celebrates International Women's Day to honour the invaluable contributions of women to the chemical industry and to recognize the progress we've made in promoting gender equality and creating an inclusive workplace. At WACKER Middle East & Africa, women are well-represented in our workforce and we're proud to have fostered an environment where every woman feels valued and empowered.
On International Women's Day, webinars and meetings provide inspiration and knowledge to our female colleagues. We believe that diversity is the key to sparking creativity, generating new ideas, and promoting growth and development. We celebrate the remarkable female role models in the region and vow to continue driving change towards gender equality and inclusivity in the workplace.
Empowering the Workforce of Tomorrow
Providing education opportunities such as internships is deemed a crucial social responsibility by WACKER Middle East & Africa as it empowers and equips young people with essential skills and knowledge to thrive in their careers. Through internship programs, we can help connect academia with the professional world, granting students valuable practical experience in their field of study. Furthermore, we recognize the significance of investing in the future workforce, and internships are a means to support and foster the talent of tomorrow.
WACKER MYLAB Johannesburg – Defying Gender Stereotypes
At WACKER Middle East & Africa, empowering women to succeed in their careers is a top priority, achieved through the creation of an inclusive and supportive work environment. This commitment extends to non-traditional roles in fields such as construction and chemicals, exemplified by the success of Pfarelo Portia Mavhetha, who brings her experience and expertise as an application engineer to WACKER MYLAB. As the only woman in our construction lab, Mavhetha's advice to other women in similar roles is to never let their gender limit their abilities and to find passion in their work.
Dubai – Breast Cancer Awareness Month
To ensure the wellbeing of our female workers, WACKER Middle East & Africa is committed to providing support and resources for their health. As part of this effort, the ladies in our Dubai team attend an external wellbeing webinar during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The webinar provides valuable insights into risk factors associated with the disease, signs and symptoms to look out for, as well as treatment and prevention strategies. Our team wore pink to demonstrate solidarity with women around the globe, and shared food and stories on ways to empower loved ones battling this illness. The key message of the webinar was to encourage regular screening and spread awareness among other women.
An Employee-Centric Approach to Well-Being at WACKER Dubai
We prioritize the health and well-being of our employees and collaborate with medical professionals to conduct routine check-ups and offer informative wellness coaching sessions. For our annual Health and Wellness Day, we partner with renowned institutions like Abbott, Adam Vital Hospital, and the Saudi German Hospital. We believe that a company’s development and success are directly linked to the happiness and well-being of its workers.
Engagement in Office Health and Wellness Activities
Recently, at WACKER Dubai, we organized an invigorating Office Health and Wellness Event. Participants of all age groups, supported by our medical insurance provider, Life Care International, actively engaged in physical activities like Yoga and Zumba, prioritizing personal health within our work environment.
