Art for a Cause
A Christmas Market was organized as an internal fundraising event for the Singapore Cancer Society, a charity cause chosen by the colleagues, to improve the quality of lives of those impacted by cancer, affecting more than one in every five people in Singapore.
The half-day bazaar was split into three segments – Food bars, Flea market and, Fun corner. Employees were first treated to various homemade, savory Christmas finger food by colleague volunteers during lunch. With their bellies satisfied, attendees could make their way to the flea market to select festive gifts, trinkets, and handicrafts made by volunteers from WACKER and the Singapore Cancer Society. They were also thrilled to indulge in some laughter through the carnival-style games at the fun corner.
There was even an ‘Art for a Cause’ workshop specially organized at a nominal fee for those who were feeling creative. All sales proceeds collected at the fair was used to procure festive goodie bags for families with cancer patients through the Singapore Cancer Society.
To heighten the spirit of giving to good causes, the CSR team deliberately organized the company’s annual dinner on the same day at a social enterprise cafe chain run by the Autism Resource Centre (ARC), Professor Brawn. The day ended with all colleagues lauding and volunteering their services for more community projects to come.
The Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) is a community-based voluntary welfare organisation dedicated to minimising the impact of cancer through public education, screening, patient services, financial assistance, research and advocacy. As a self-funded charity, SCS is dependent on public donations to provide quality services to cancer patients, their families and the community at large.
