Wishing Line for Children of the Arche

Munich-Moosach , Sep 27, 2024

Who saw it during the summer? The colorful clothesline - better yet: the wishing line! - at the coffee bar in WACKER House? Here, three trainees and apprentices were hard at work so as to grant the wishes of the children looked after by the Arche charity. So many colleagues took part in the project that the young organization team was able to hand over many fulfilled wishes to the charity for children and young people, which is based in the Munich-Moosach district.

“We came up with the ‘Summer Joy’ project to spread real happiness to the children looked after by the Arche charity in the form of some small, but personal, gifts,” say (from left) Diana Schoen, Theo Böhm and Merve Kanar, thanking all those who made the children’s wishes come true.

Exercise books, felt-tip pens, chalk for drawing outdoors, bow and arrows, or a nice perfume – anything which can easily be bought in the shops, but is out of reach for some. The children and young people cared for by the Munich-based Arche charity cherish these small treasures, which they otherwise couldn’t afford.

The team from WACKER’s young employees and trainees council (JAV) provided the opportunity for everyone at WACKER House to help fulfill these wishes. Anyone looking to do a good deed was able to make someone’s wish come true and bring some happiness into their life by simply taking one of the wish cards from the long line that hung over the Barista Bar.

On each card on the long line was a handwritten wish for the children of the Arche. The employees as well as some service providers and guests at WACKER House selected a card of their choice, fulfilled the wish and brought the gift to the collection point organized by Diana Schoen, Merve Kanar and Theo Böhm.

"A lot of people stopped to look at us with interest right from when the wishing line was hung up," the three report. "Our wishing line was only up for two days before almost 50 wish cards were snapped up." The team then contacted the Arche and promptly organized additional cards with wishes. The three organizers handed over the fulfilled wishes to the Arche just in time for the start of the new school year.

At the Arche charity based in the Munich-Moosach district, support workers take care of children and young people, provide hot lunches, help with homework, and arrange leisure activities and school-vacation programs. In its role as both a friend and partner, WACKER made a donation of €100,000 this summer – the 18th year it has done so. The donation was presented during the Arche summer festival held in early July. It was a happy occasion at which WACKER volunteers traditionally mesmerize their young audience with a colorful array of cakes.
