How to Make Walls Dampproof
Damp is the enemy of every wall. In masonry, plasters and paintwork, it damages the materials, fosters mildew and leads to increased energy consumption. Rising damp is a typical problem for older houses that are close to the groundwater level, in direct contact with the ground or in other contact with water.
In these cases, chemical dampproofing has proven an efficient countermeasure. The chemical dampproofing is injected directly into boreholes and, by chemical reaction, forms a horizontal waterproof barrier.
Injecting SILRES® BS into the masonry puts a stop to capillary rising damp and any associated penetration of harmful substances, allowing the wall to dry out. SILRES® BS silicone microemulsion concentrates and silane/siloxane-based creams provide highly efficient, environmentally friendly solutions.
All SILRES® BS grades are suitable for the lasting protection of buildings and boast various benefits:
- Preservation of precious building fabric
- Improvement of indoor climate
- Reduction in heating energy consumption
This has been validated by long-term studies and numerous reference objects.
