Benefits of 1K Cementitious Waterproofing Membranes
When waterproofing wet rooms, polymer-modified cementitious waterproofing membranes are a good choice. But what’s the difference between 1K and 2K systems? Which one is easier to use and leads to better results? Our video gives you a brief overview.
In wet rooms, it is particularly important that a durable, secure water barrier is installed. Polymer-modified cementitious 1K or 2K waterproofing systems are often used here. With 2K systems, a dry mortar and polymer dispersion are mixed on site. As two components are mixed here, it is crucial that the mixing ratio is correct, otherwise the waterproofing may leak in the long term. 1K systems (polymer-modified dry mix mortars), on the other hand, are simply mixed with water on site, which reduces mixing errors. They are easier to transport and produce less waste. Furthermore, 1K systems allow workers to mix the exact quantity they need without having to use up the entire bag.
Waterproofing systems modified with VINNAPAS®form a water barrier that remains intact for a long time, even under water pressure and with chlorinated water. The video shows why 1K systems are recommended.
