SILRES® BS 280

SILRES® BS 280 is a solvent-free silicone concentrate based on silane/siloxane that is dilutable with organic solvents.
Diluted solutions of SILRES® BS 280 are highquality water repellents for impregnating mineral building materials, especially silicate free natural stones like limestone or gypsum.
SILRES® BS 280 develops its waterrepellent effect after application to construction materials as a result of a reaction with atmospheric humidity.


Properties

  • good penetration into building materials
  • extremely effective with most natural stone
  • good alkali resistance (alkaline mortar joints)


SILRES® BS 280 is particularly recommended for the conservation of monuments and the restoration of natural stone buildings thanks to its all-round effectiveness and excellent alkali resistance. Good results are also achieved when SILRES® BS 280 is used to treat mineral plasters, bricks, sand-lime bricks, aerated concrete and mineral paint.

Dilution

SILRES® BS 280 should be diluted in a ratio of 1:11 (parts by weight).
SILRES® BS 280 can be diluted with aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons or with anhydrous alcohol. We would especially recommend the use of petroleum hydrocarbons such as white spirit. Alcohols should be used only in special cases, e. g. where contact with materials affected by solvents, such as polystyrene, bitumen etc. cannot be avoided during impregnation.

 

Storage

The "Best use before end" date of each batch is shown on the product label. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
