POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV

POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV is a nonionic micro emulsion concentrate of a reactive modified aminofunctional polydimethylsiloxane
for use in non-yellowing and hydrophilic textile finishing.

Properties

POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV is particularly suitable in softener formulations for the impregnation of fibers and textiles.
POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV imparts a soft, drapable and elastic touch to woven and knitted fabrics.
In comparison to usual silicone-based, medium hydrophilic softeners POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV shows excellent stability in the presence of salt and resins, even under high shearing conditions.
POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV is readily dilutable with cold water to any desired concentration. Dilutions of the product are resistant to alkaline conditions up to pH 10.
Furthermore POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV can be used in direct combination with many optical brighteners due to its good compatibility with such compounds. However, the compatibility should be tested on a case-by-case basis.
In contrast to many conventional silicone softeners, POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV does not turn cotton and other hydrophilic substrates hydrophobic. Cotton treated with POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV shows good hydrophilicity which offers advantages if overdyeing of the fabric is required.
When applied under normal conditions as part of a softener formulation, POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV has no effect on the whiteness degree.

Compared to polyether containing hydrophilic softeners POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV provides a considerably better wash-durability of the soft-hand properties.
POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV does not contain SVHC relevant impurities of more than 0.1% each, e.g. cyclics D4, D5 or D6.

Application:
The application of POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV on textiles can be done either by padding or exhaustion method. Emulsions prepared out of POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV are diluted to the optimum concentration for the specific fabric.
POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV can be applied either alone or together with resins and other finishing agents.
POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV may also be combined with different organic, nonionic and cationic fabric softeners. The compatible ratio of POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV and organic softener must be tested prior to use on a case-by-case basis.

Processing:
Typical recipe for woven and knitted materials of cotton and synthetic fibres:
0.5 ml/l acetic acid 60 %
10-20 g/l POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV
Padding, liquor pick-up about 70 %
Drying at 150 °C / 3 min.

Storage

POWERSOFT® UP 70 LV is stabilized with 2-phenoxyethanol, which is approved for use in cosmetic products. Once opened packages should be used up quickly to prevent contamination by potentially introduced microorganisms.

The "Best use before end" date of each batch is shown on the product label. Emulsions showing signs of creaming should be agitated before use to assure uniform consistency. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
