SILFOAM® SD 8262
SILFOAM® SD 8262 is an anhydrous, low viscous, self-emulsifying antifoam agent based on on a food grade vegetable oil and an organomodified polysiloxane.
Properties
SILFOAM® SD 8262 prevents foaming (act as an antifoam) and destroys existing foam (acts as defoamer) in a large number of aqueous systems. It is ideal for systems in which silicones would usually cause problems:
- PVC degassing
- Manufacture and processing of polymer dispersions for textiles, paper, paints and surface coatings as well as adhesives
- Fermentation processes
- Cooling lubricants
- Textile formulations
- Water treatment
Processing
The exact amount to be added must be determined in preliminary tests. We recommend starting with amounts between 0.005% and 0.2%.
Generally, the product should be added as it is, as its self-dispersing properties will usually ensure an adequate and homogeneous distribution.
If SILFOAM® SD 8262 is diluted with water, we recommend adding SILFOAM® SD 8262 to water while stirring gently.
The resultant dispersion must be used quickly.
Storage
The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label.
Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case
however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
