SILRES® POWDER A is a highly efficient silicone water-repellent additive in powder form.

To produce non load-bearing precast concrete products or mineral construction material mixes such as premixed plasters, joint mortars or powder paints mix SILRES® POWDER A with the other dry materials using suitable equipment. Very good water repellency and durability can be achieved with 0.1 - 0.5% based on the dry weight. After sufficient water has been added, the earth-moist or liquid material can be mixed by hand or machine. Since mixing by hand only generates low shear forces, it is best to allow the mixture to mature by leaving it to stand for five minutes, and then to stir it again.
SILRES® POWDER A is a high-quality specialty product for enhancing the water repellency and water resistance of cementitious construction material mixes, e.g. premixed plasters, joint mortars and powder paints (for gypsum-based formulations SILRES® Powder G is recommended). Properly formulated products exhibit:
- low water absorption coefficients
- excellent droplet effect
- low soiling tendency
- durability
SILRES® POWDER A can be used in both dry powder and liquid systems. Therefore, it can also be used for manufacturing earth-moist or slurry-based products, like fibre cement or calcium silicate boards, non load-bearing concrete products as well as aerated concrete parts.
Lagerung
SILRES® POWDER A should be stored in a cool place and protected against moisture.
The "Best use before end" date of each batch is shown on the product label. Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
Blends of SILRES® POWDER A with hydraulic binders, fillers and pigments have better storage stability because these substances prevent caking. However, blends of this type still have to be protected against humidity.
