SILRES® BS 1318
SILRES® BS 1318 is a solventless concentrate based on silanes and siloxanes. SILRES® BS 1318 is used in water diluted form for the hydrophobation of silicate based mineral construction materials.
Properties
- water-free and solventless silicone concentrate
- spontaneously dilute with drinking water, i. e. without the need for sophisticated mixing devices
- the water diluted product has to be used up within 24h after production of the dilution
Advantages over ready-to-use products:
- lower packaging costs
- fewer problems with empty containers
- disposal (15 times less packaging)
- lower storage and transport costs
Diluted with water SILRES® BS 1318 is used for impregnating the surface of silicate based building materials. A sufficient and homogenious application is necessary for achiving a good hydrophobic protection.
Processing
Diluted with water SILRES® BS 1318 has to be used up 24 hours after production of the dilution, ie: only as much product should be diluted, as can be processed within this time.
Dilution
Drinking water is suitable for dilution of SILRES® BS 1318. When mixing the SILRES® BS 1318 into the water, the mixture is stirred briefly. The dilution cause to finely divided opalescent microemulsions. They don't change their appearance, even if they are no longer operational.
In general, good hydrophobic results are achieved when SILRES® BS 1318 is diluted 1:9 to 1:15. Preliminary tests are always required for the determination of the correct dilution ratio.
Storage
The 'Best use before end' date of each batch is shown on the product label.
Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
