SILFOAM® SD 8060
SILFOAM® SD 8060 is an anhydrous antifoam agent based on organofunctional silicone fluids which exhibit a high compatibility with organic systems. SILFOAM® SD 8060 was designed with improved environmental profile and properties which enable a quick and easy processing.

Application
SILFOAM® SD 8060 shows a good foam knockdown and deaeration efficiency.
SILFOAM® SD 8060 shall be used in applications where a very good compatibility and homogeneity with the foaming medium is needed.
Typical application fields:
- raw material used in paint and lacquer additives
- paints, lacquers and inks
- textile, metal cutting fluids, solvent based pesticide formulations
- other applications
The product is stable against shear forces.
Thus, SILFOAM® SD 8060 is ideal for applications in which silicones would usually cause problems, e. g., printing inks, adhesives, and water miscible cooling lubricants.
It is particularly recommended for systems with a high surfactant content, or which entail high shear forces, e. g., the incorporation of pigments into dispersions. In those systems purely organic defoamers rapidly become ineffective.
Other recommended applications are solvent based systems which are later diluted or emulsified in water.
Processing
The exact dosage must be determined in preliminary tests. We recommend starting with amounts between 0.05% and
0.3%.
Generally, the product should be added as it is, as its self-dispersing properties will usually ensure an adequate and
homogeneous distribution in the foaming medium.
Soluble in: acetone, ethanol, butylacetate, DGBE, petrol.
Insoluble in: water.

Storage beyond the date specified on the label does not necessarily mean that the product is no longer usable. In this case
however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.
