SILFOAM® SD 850
SILFOAM® SD 850 is an anhydrous, low-viscosity, readily dispersible and relatively alkali-resistant organomodified antifoam agent with good deaeration characteristics.
Eigenschaften
Because of its structure, SILFOAM® SD 850 can be used for defoaming surfactant-containing formulations or for foam suppression in processes that use surfactants, with a significant reduction in undesirable secondary effects, such as incompatibility, rapid exhaustion or low alkali resistance.
SILFOAM® SD 850 is suitable primarily for the following applications:
- Alkaline processes in the textiles industry (bleaching, washing, dyeing, etc.).
- Surfactant-containing compositions in which the defoamer is required to be highly compatible, for example, liquid detergents and cleaning agents.

SILFOAM® SD 850 is usually added to the formulations to be defoamed in amounts of 0.3–1.0% at the end of the product formulation stage. It does not need to be diluted first, and is stirred in gently. usually disperses without the need to apply high shearing forces. In textile processes, SILFOAM® SD 850 is added at the beginning of the process in an amount corresponding to the desired degree of foam suppression. During the course of relatively long processes more may be added if necessary.
