WACKER Presents Water-Compatible Silicone Resin Elastomer Gel for Cosmetics and Skin Care Products

The new BELSIL^® REG 1103 B is a colorless, clear to slightly translucent gel consisting of three silicone components: a silicone resin containing crosspolymer, a non-volatile silicone fluid and silicone glucoside, a silicone polymer modified with glucoside. As a gentle, non-PEG water-in oil emulsifier, the silicone glucoside provides water- and glycerin-compatible properties to the silicone elastomer, making the gel a good co-emulsifier and skin conditioner in water-in oil formulations. Mixing BELSIL^® REG 1103 B with water produces a stiff cream characterized by a fully-bodied, homogeneous texture in which pigments do not settle.

BELSIL^® REG 1103 B is not only water-compatible, it also has a water-break effect: water absorbed during the formulation process is released in the form of tiny droplets when applied, conferring a fresh and light skin feeling. Unlike traditional water-breaking formulations produced by using emulsifiers, water-breaking formulations produced by BELSIL^® REG 1103 B release water continuously and delicately. When applied, water droplets break out slowly thus avoid interrupted skin feel caused by discontinuous water release.

Thanks to its water- and glycerin-compatible properties, even without additional emulsifiers, BELSIL^® REG 1103 B allows polyols or other water-soluble moisturizing ingredients to be added into all-oil lip makeup formulas, such as velvet lip gloss and lip mud, and keep their velvety texture and matte makeup effect unchanged. Thus, the new elastomer gel provides a long-lasting moisturizing effect in lip makeups.

As a typical silicone resin elastomer gel, BELSIL^® REG 1103 B combines the skin-sensory properties of crosslinked silicone polymers with the film-forming effects of silicone resins. This combination of properties makes the product a multifunctional ingredient for skin care and cosmetic products. The gel lends formulations a texture that leaves the skin feeling extraordinarily soft and silky. The film formed by silicone resin modified crosslinked polymer is flexible and translucent, adhering well to the skin. BELSIL^® REG 1103 B is also capable of scattering light, an effect similar to that produced by a soft-focus lens. In this way it does a good job of visibly concealing contours and wrinkles.

During PCHi 2023, WACKER will also present a new BELSIL^® DM silicone emulsion series for hair care products. These emulsions offer good conditioning effects for both dry and wet hair. They can effectively repair damaged hair and provide a soft hand. The new BELSIL^® DM emulsions adopt gentle preservatives to support customers to develop safe and gentle hair care products.
