Specialty fine chemicals enhance the production of intermediates for active-ingredient synthesis and reduce the environmental impact associated with the production of highly effective plant protection agents. Cyclodextrins can be used to improve the overall performance of active ingredients, such as pesticides, herbicides and pheromones.

High-efficiency antifoam agents provide effective, long-lasting foam control during the production and application of plant protection agents. For fertilizers, specialty silicones facilitate conveying and warehousing, while specific silicone surfactants optimize the distribution of protection agents on plants.

Moreover, SILFOAM® foam control systems allow users to rapidly fill the plant protection agent into containers for application.

Plant protection (pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, pheromones etc.)

WACKER offers a portfolio of specialty products, such as CAVAMAX® and CAVASOL® cyclodextrins, as well as FERMOPURE® cysteine, for optimizing processes and formulations in the agrochemical sector. Cyclodextrins are capable of forming molecular inclusion complexes with substances that tend to be hydrophobic. This aids in the solubilization and stabilization of a broad range of active ingredients, ensures uniform distribution in the field while minimizing environmental contamination and enhancing bio-efficacy.

Acaricides

Sustainable beekeeping is a challenge, due to the need to use harsh chemicals in beehives. Cyclodextrins can enhance the sustainability of beekeeping by minimizing the reliance on harsh chemicals, because, with cyclodextrins, essential oils can even be used in powdered form. Our solutions, based on native cyclodextrins, are biodegradable and residue-free and help to reduce the volatility of highly active compounds. Cyclodextrin-based solutions can be applied by user-friendly methods.

Seed coatings

Cyclodextrins are a sustainable solution for encapsulating substances that promote growth, reduce abiotic stress and protect seeds. They facilitate incorporation and homogeneous distribution of hydrophobic actives while enhancing stability in processing, in storage and in the field. Furthermore, cyclodextrin inclusion complexes extend the availability of these substances over a longer period.

Biostimulants and fertilizers

Cyclodextrins and cysteine improve nutrient and biostimulant uptake, thereby leading to healthier crop growth. Cyclodextrins help increase solubility and improve absorption by plants.

Cysteine, a unique amino acid, functions as a biostimulant and positively impacts the soil microbiome. It serves as a building block for various biomolecules, is a key source of organic sulfur and has antioxidant properties.

Solvents for plant protection agents

WACKER methyl acetate, a low-molecular ester, possesses specific solvent properties, and is therefore especially valuable as a crystallization solvent in the manufacture of plant protection agents. Its low boiling point allows for very gentle processes to be carried out at normal pressure. A further advantage is the comparatively low amount of energy needed to recover the solvent and dry the products.

Building blocks

Industry requires intermediates for the synthesis of pharmaceutical actives, agrochemicals and performance chemicals, such as catalysts and stabilizers. We offer selected products from the integrated production complex at the Burghausen site; these include acetyl acetone, chlorinated carbonyl compounds and silanes, either for use as protective groups or for chromatographic applications.
