BELSIL® EG 1200
BELSIL® EG 1200 elastomer gel is a non-emulsifying silicone gel composed of a cross-linked silicone elastomer copolymer network which has been swollen with a non-volatile, low viscosity (5cSt) dimethicone. BELSIL® EG 1200 has a rather high viscosity but can be easily further diluted with silicone fluids or organic solvents allowing a broad flexibility when formulating cosmetic products.
BELSIL® EG 1200 is a clear to translucent gel, which provides pleasant sensory properties.

特性
BELSIL® EG 1200 can add consistency and a nice silky texture to cosmetic formulations. Due to its rather high viscosity BELSIL® EG 1200 can act as a thickener in formulations while delivering a smooth application. Typical for elastomer gels, BELSIL® EG 1200 exhibits a shear-thinning behavior. Cosmetic formulations containing BELSIL® EG 1200 can be spread easily during application and leave a very pleasant silky feel. In addition, BELSIL® EG 1200 acts as a carrier for fragrances allowing a slow release of the fragrance.
BELSIL® EG 1200 is added to the oil or silicone phase of a formulation. When formulating a W/O emulsion the elastomer gel can also be added to the already formed emulsion. In both cases, a good homogenization is needed to ensure that the elastomer gel is well mixed into the oil phase or the final emulsion. A short time of stirring is sufficient, but as the cross-linked silicone elastomer network is stable, also longer homogenization steps are possible. When BELSIL® EG 1200 is diluted with silicone fluids or organic solvents, the viscosity of the product decreases significantly and can be easily adjusted.
During the application BELSIL® EG 1200 shows a pleasant silky sensory profile. It also provides a nice texture and a comfortable cushion effect especially after the application. These performance properties make it of BELSIL® EG 1200 a versatile ingredient for various Skin Care, Color Cosmetic and Hair Care products. Typical applications for BELSIL® EG 1200 are facial creams and lotions, foundations and moisturizing creams. BELSIL® EG 1200 can be used to thicken the oil phase of emulsions or anhydrous cosmetic formulations in pressed powder cosmetics it acts as binder.
Processing:
BELSIL® EG 1200 is a high viscose material. However due its highly shear-thinning behavior, it can be pumped with suitable equipment. Upon storage, the apparent viscosity BELSIL® EG 1200 may increase. However, the viscosity data can vary significantly depending on how the product is stirred prior to measurement. WACKER recommends to thoroughly mix BELSIL® EG 1200 before any viscosity measurement. If the product is stored for an extended period of time, it should be re-mixed prior to use.
