About Us
Wacker Chemie AG has two subsidiaries in Japan: Wacker Asahikasei Silicones Co. Ltd., AWS, for the silicone industry, and Wacker Chemicals East Asia Ltd., WCEA, for the polysilicon industry.
WACKER’s subsidiary in Tokyo was first established in 1983 under the name Wacker Chemicals East Asia. The technical center and the production site were built 4 years later in Shizuoka. WACKER Japan has operated as a key central function in the Asian region ever since.
Later in 1999, AWS formed a joint venture with Asahi Kasei, one of the country’s leading chemical companies, with each company holding a 50-percent share. At that time, AWS relocated to Tsukuba and expanded its technical center. The joint venture has been extremely successful as AWS provides valuable support to local customers and helps to create value-based solutions for technical and chemical challenges.
Well positioned in the face of strong competition, AWS covers demands from a wide range of industries and its key markets by providing superior products including silicone emulsions, solid and liquid silicone rubber, as well as silica.
