Since 2011, we have been supporting the building and running of a school in Gressier, 25 kilometers southwest of Port-au-Prince. Our local cooperation partner is the relief organization Don Bosco. Including donations from WACKER employees, the relief fund raised an initial €125,000, which enabled the school center in Gressier to open as early as 2012.
This center comprises a kindergarten, an elementary school and a high school. The buildings are earthquake-proof and handicapped-accessible. The 833 students receive a good education and regular meals, as well as guidance and psychological support to help overcome their traumatic experiences. The WACKER relief fund contributes to financing the running of the school, including the meals.
