Household and Consumer Goods

Silicones are widely used in the kitchen and in the home. Household goods are almost unthinkable without seals, cables and tubes made of silicone. And it doesn’t end there. Practical kitchen accessories such as silicone ice cube molds, pastry scrapers and spatulas offer unbeatable advantages.

ELASTOSIL® silicone rubber is flexible and has good release properties. It is also odor-free and tasteless, and meets legal requirements for food contact, which make it ideal for manufacturing kitchen, cooking and baking utensils.

Applications:

  • Baking accessories such as pastry scrapers and baking molds
  • Cooking implements and utensils like whisks and spatulas
  • Ice cube molds
  • Collapsible bowls

Benefits:

  • Good release properties
  • Odor-free and tasteless
  • Pigmentability
  • Complies with FDA food contact regulations

Tubes and profiles for household appliances and white goods are produced from solid silicone rubber (HTV) by extrusion molding. Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) is made into molded parts using injection molding.

Applications:

  • Profiles for oven doors
  • Coffee machine tubes
  • Food tubes
  • Seals

Benefits:

  • Multifunctional
  • High tear resistance
  • Low compression set
  • High elasticity
  • Low coefficient of dynamic friction
  • High heat resistance
